Comfort is cozy. But it won’t build the life you want.

What stepping into the spotlight taught me about getting out of your zone of genius.

I’ve spent years pitching clients to be podcast guests.

Crafting key messages. Anticipating questions. Writing the perfect bio.
My job has always been to prepare someone else to show up and share their story with confidence.

So when I found myself sitting on the other side of the mic — as the guest, not the strategist — I felt… exposed.

Even though I loved the host Hope.
Even though I talk about this stuff every day.
Even though I coach and teach other people through it.

Something about being the one in the spotlight felt different.
Vulnerable. Stretching. Alive.

It’s easy to stay in your zone of genius.
To coach, guide, lead — from just outside the spotlight.

But sometimes the next version of you is waiting on the other side of a moment that makes you a little uncomfortable.

Getting on the mic wasn’t about performance.
It was about permission.

Permission to take up space.
To share my own voice — not just elevate others’.
To show up as the “and” — strategist and speaker, professional and parent, the one supporting and the one seen.

Maybe you’ve been sitting on an idea.
Maybe there’s a pitch, a project, or a post you’ve been talking yourself out of — because it feels safer to stay in the background.

What if you just said yes?
What if the thing you’re avoiding isn’t a threat — but an invitation?

This Week…

Say yes to something that stretches you — even just a little.
The panel you’ve been asked to join.
The story you’ve been hesitant to post.
The mic that’s been waiting for you.

You don’t have to be ready.
Just willing.
